The Annual Report of the Governors and Trustees of The Liverpool Blue Coat Hospital for 1940
The 1940 Report highlights the difficulties of setting the school into its evacuation premises in Beaumaris, Anglesey, on 4 September 1939 after WWII with Germany was declared. Children were getting used to being billeted in private houses and becoming more independent and responsible, compared to the previous authoritarian discipline at school in Liverpool. Problems included the school being spread over five different buildings and the loss of four masters into the Armed Forces.
