Blue Coat held its first Annual Prizegiving in 1947  since its return from Anglesey, having been evacuated there for the duration of WWII. The Lady Mayoress of Liverpool was guest of honour for the ceremony in Shirley Hall. The Bishop of Liverpool confirmed students and began holding monthly communion in the School Chapel. Bishop Gresford Jones was appointed School Chaplain. An HMI team inspected the school, with its report to be published later.
